1976 Full internal inquiry into Home Office re Roger Gleaves affair

Cathy Fox made this Freedom of Information request to Home Office

Response to this request is long overdue. By law, under all circumstances, Home Office should have responded by now (details). You can complain by requesting an internal review.

Dear Home Office,

In 1975 in response to the Johnny Go Home documentary there was a
debate in the House of Commons about Homelessness.
http://hansard.millbanksystems.com/commo…

Michael Meacher announced actions in that debate, one of which is
below.
Please could you send me the reports from this full internal
inquiry,
and then the recommendations and actions taken by the Department or
other departments from this report.

1. “The Home Secretary instituted a full internal inquiry to
investigate what action was taken by the various departments of the
Home Office and related services in connection with the Gleaves
affair. We are seeking to find out exactly what happened and why
there was not the dissemination of the information to other
Departments.”

Yours faithfully,

Cathy Fox

Dear FOI Requests,
Thank you for your reply.
Please could you tell me the reasons for the unacceptably and
illegal delay.
Please could you tell me whether there is any record of this
important internal inquiry being destroyed, if so when and if it
was in line with the document retention policy at the time and what
that was.
Please could you say if there is any documentation as to where the
inquiry report has gone, and whether the department keeps any
minutes of meetings from this time which would surely have
discussed such an important internal inquiry from which the
department was to learn and act”and then the recommendations and
actions taken by the Department or other departments from this
report.”
Where was searched for these documents for the previous response?

Yours sincerely,

Cathy Fox
